Motor Insulation Measure & Protection Unit
Motor Insulation Protection: Function and Purpose
The MIP6 is a fully digital off-line motor insulation measurement and protection unit for motors up to 15 kV. It can be used with all types of AC motors and is designed to measure insulation resistance in both Low Voltage and Medium Voltage motors.
Minimum and Maximum Measurements with Programmable Time Delay
The MIP6 records two sets of insulation resistance levels: minimum and maximum values for the current month, and minimum and maximum values recorded since the last reset. A built-in programmable time delay helps prevent incorrect measurements caused by motor cable capacitance and induced motor voltages.
Protection and Alarms
The MIP6 automatically adjusts the DC test voltage to provide an optimal insulation resistance measurement. It protects the motor and cabling against abnormally low insulation resistance conditions. When a fault is detected, the MIP6 can generate an alarm, prevent motor starting, or trip the motor circuit breaker.
