Solcon-IGEL together with our local partner in Vietnam have successfully completed a double SST multi-start project complete with 2 x SST (10kV 600A) and a MVCP (Medium Voltage Control Panel). Here the strengths of both partners were combined in the application.

Together with our local partner in Vietnam have successfully completed a double SST multi-start project complete with 2 x SST (10kV 600A) and a MVCP (Medium Voltage Control Panel) without the need of a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller)

The system was designed and manufactured for a large motor power range, needed to supply 4 different compressors running in parallel. The motors, ranging from 1.12MW to 9.1mW – (MAC – 9.1MW, BAC – 5.76MW, GOX – 2.4MW & GAN – 1.12MW) – in current terms 80A – 595A

Due to the large current range, MVCP SW needed to be set with special parameters. In addition, the compressor (MAC 9.1MW 595A), the largest of the 4, challenged our engineers with the need for a combination of a long starting time and a relatively large starting current (37sec @ 4*FLA when the nominal values are 30sec @ 4*FLC) – here we were faced with – FLA is 595A and FLC is 600A.

Not a problem for the team, as it became clear that there was a requirement for a motor start of maximum 1/hr, that the cabinets were to be installed in an air-conditioned environment with an ambient room temperature of ~25°C.

Knowing that the cabinet would be well ventilated, and that the SST’s temperature would not rise above 25-30°C, we were confident that the soft starts needed would indeed be successful.
